According to WWD, Net-a-Porter, the online fashion site famous for its designer goods, will open its online discount outlet, www.outnet.com, sometime next month. Could it be an opportunistic move in this awful economy, or they could have been planning it for awhile, and have impeccable timing? Either way, it's a site worth checking out. After discovering fab deals at invite-only sites like Gilt Groupe and Rue La La (could someone please send me an invite at thoughtsonstyle@gmail.com for Rue La La?), I have turned mostly to the internet for clothing deals. Let's hope this site gives us one more reason to shop online.
Good news for New Yorkers - According to WWD, Topshop is planning on opening its Soho store on April 2nd. Yay! Topshop will be the cherry on top of the fast and cheap fashion purveyors in New York including H&M and Zara. Visit Topshop online to find out just what's in store for us when Topshop makes its jump across the pond this spring.
Just read something trés exciting in nymag -- Alexander McQueen's new line for Target (which won't be available in stores until March), is going to be sold in New York on Sat, Feb 14 and Sun, Feb 15th. This is one distraction from Valentine's Day that I really don't mind. According to nymag.com, it will be available at St. John's Center on Houston St.
The photos above characterize some looks from his line (i.e., his regular, higher priced line), which embodies the young, edgy and bold crowd for whom his styles are so popular. One of my boyfriend's only fashion treasures (that I can actually wear) is one of Mcqueen's skull scarves, which I throw over some of my moderately preppy outfits, to show everyone that ooh, I'm a little edgy too.
Ah, just another reason it's great to live in the center of the fashion world...
The Tracy Feith boutique on Madison Avenue in New York.
Good news for Target fans - Tracy Feith will be introducing a line for GO International at Target this spring! According to WWD, “The broad collection, which features about 60 styles and 15 original prints, will bow May 17 and be available through June 27 in most Target stores nationwide and online at www.target.com/go.”
I always enjoy a good designer line at Target, because great style really should be available to all. Anya Hindmarch did a great job with a line of patent leather handbags and clutches this fall, and so did Sigerson Morrison with a line of studded, bejeweled flats and pumps. Sadly there is no Target in Manhattan, so we New Yorkers have to trek out to various burbs to snag the line…maybe I will have to take a trip this spring.
