It came as a shock to me - hearing New York girls in their 20's mentioning that they want one, hearing a CNN news anchor mentioning that she already has one, and more and more about the phenomenon of the dreadful Snuggie. Who are these people who don't mind walking around looking like a monk? Unless you really are a monk, I do not recommend dressing like one.
And then one day it hit me - the Snuggie resembles a more stylish version of the same thing - the DKNY cozy, which is essentially a wool or silk/cashmere-blend wrap with arms. Owning and loving one myself, I really have to praise the DKNY version for its chic versatility...and its ability to keep me warm on many a chilly day.
So what came first, the Snuggie or the Cozy? I believe it was DKNY who came first. One day a designer thought, hmmm, a wrap + sleeves = genius! And then, on a much sadder day, someone from snuggie thought hmmm, a blanket + sleeves = genius!
Whichever one you consider genius, take it from me. The Cozy, with its higher price tag, is at least acceptable to wear in public. If you're going to choose the snuggie, stay home.
